The River Taw of Tarka the otter fame runs through the valley and there are many nearby villages each with their own unique charm and character most with a quaint public house. A few miles away guests will find the historic towns of Barnstable (9 miles), Torrington (9 miles), the seaside town of Bideford (15 miles) and the market town of south Molton the gateway to Exmoor (9 miles). The beautiful North Devon coast with its rugged coastline and miles of sandy beaches is just 14 miles away with Exmoor National Park 15 miles to the north east of the property and Dartmoor National Park 30 miles to the south. Both National Parks are visible from the property. The tarka line train stops in the village of Umberleigh 2 miles away giving access to Exeter, Barnstaple and the national rail network.
Boreat Manor stands on the site of a much older medieval manor and takes pride of place in a courtyard of 4 properties, the other three properties being large converted barns which once were part of the Manor of Boreat but today are privately owned beautiful properties. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland and woodland Boreat is an idyllic place to stay rural but near to all the attractions, National Parks and the endless miles of sandy beaches with the famous surfing beaches of Croyde, Saunton and Woolcombe being a short distance away.
